Top 5 cheapest Caribbean islands you can see right now

As we were thinking to go somewhere warmer this summer, we researched the weekly cost per couple for the Caribbean Islands that are starting to open for international travelers. Therefore, we comprised a list of the top 5 cheapest islands in the Caribbean that you can visit now.

We listed the average costs for meals, one person daily cost as well as weekly couple travel costs. However, none of the prices include flights, as they differ quite a lot depending on your country of departure.

5. US Virgin Islands

Overall costs on average

  • One meal: $19
  • Daily cost per person: $69
  • Weekly cost per couple: $965

Conditions for entry

Upon arrival, all travelers will be screened for health conditions. In addition, they are subject to quarantine.

Accommodation costs

One of the cheapest Caribbean islands is the US Virgin Islands. Therefore, the cheapest accommodation we found is the Galleon House Hotel, a 2-star hotel, priced at around $68 per night for a double room with a shared bathroom. The rate also includes breakfast for two.

4. Saint Vincent and the Grenadines

  • Daily cost per person: $57
  • Weekly cost per couple: $797

Conditions for entry

The islands are open for tourism. However, all passengers arriving from China, EEA, the United Kingdom, and the United States are subject to a 14-day quarantine.

Accommodation costs

The cheapest place we have found is Casadesnagg, a studio, rated at 9.6 out of 10 by other travelers. The average price is around $29 per night.

However, if you are a hotel-only traveler, you can check out the Sweet Retreat. Prices start at $75 per night for a double room with breakfast included.

3. The Bahamas

  • One meal: $18
  • Daily cost per person: $55
  • Weekly cost per couple: $766

Conditions for entry

The second runner for the cheapest Caribbean islands' prize is the Bahamas. The islands plan to open for tourists on July 1st, 2020. All passengers must fill in a travel health form prior to arrival. In addition, a negative PCR test result that has been taken in the past 10 days must be presented upon arrival. Any travelers that show symptoms will be subject to medical screening.

Accommodation costs

One of the least expensive places to stay in the Bahamas is the Ocean Front Hostel & Resort Viking Hill, priced at around $60 for two people in a 4-mixed dormitory. However, for an extra $10 you can find some cheap hotels where you can enjoy the privacy of your own room.

2. Jamaica

  • Daily cost per person: $43
  • Weekly cost per couple: $599

Conditions for entry

Another one of the cheapest Caribbean islands now open for visitors is Jamaica. However, tourists are subject to medical screening and quarantine. Additionally, they must submit a travel authorization obtained before departure on the Jamaican travel website.

Accommodation costs

The cheapest hotel we found in Jamaica is B&B White Beach House, and prices start at $20 per double room for one night.

1. Dominican Republic

The Caribbean country plans to open to tourism on July 1st, 2020. No further conditions for entry have been announced yet.

Accommodation costs

This is the cheapest Caribbean island that we found. However, the prices range quite a lot, and it all depends on the destination. Punta Cana, the most popular area, is more expensive than other places, such as Punta Plata or La Romana.

However, even in Punta Cana, the cheapest place we found is Aparta Hotel Las Rosas, which starts at $14 per night for two. A 3-star hotel starts at $21 per night but prices can go as high as $600 per night for 5-star hotels.
