Which countries in the Americas are open right now?

This article will present the countries that are open or plan to open in the Americas and their conditions for entry. All this information was of huge interest to us as we have been staying in South America for almost 4 months now. Meanwhile, we started looking into other countries that are opening up as we don't want yet to give up on our travel plans. As a result, we are searching the Americas in order to be able to easily resume our travel plans once the pandemic decides to ditch this continent.

Mexico
Status
Some areas within the country are open for most tourists. However, the land border with the United States remains closed until August 21st, 2020.
Conditions
In order to enter Mexico, you must fill in a questionnaire and present it upon arrival.

The United States of America
Status
Most states are open to travelers who have not traveled to European countries, Brazil, Iran and China in the past 14 days.
Conditions
Some states require tourists to present a negative COVID-19 test result and they are also subject to health examination and a 14-day quarantine.
Caribbean countries that are open for tourism
Antigua and Barbuda
Status
The country-islands are open for tourists since June 4th, 2020.

Conditions
Passengers must present a health declaration form. Moreover, they are subject to a medical examination and testing upon arrival.
Aruba
Status
The little Caribbean island gradually opened for tourists arriving from Canada, the United States, and Europe between June 15th and July 10th, 2020.
Conditions
All passengers arriving in Aruba must complete an online Embarkation/Disembarkation card form. Travelers must present a negative PCR test issued 72 hours prior to arrival or pre-pay for one to be taken at the airport. Incoming passengers are also subject to a medical examination upon arrival.

Barbados
Status
The Caribbean island opened its borders on June 1st, 2020.
Conditions
All incoming visitors will be quarantined for 14 days.
Belize
Status
The country is planning to open its borders to international visitors on August 15th, 2020.
Conditions
All travelers must download a health tracking app and are encouraged to bring a negative PCR test.
Bermuda
Status
The country opened to tourism on July 1st, 2020.
Conditions
Passengers must provide a negative COVID-19 test issued at most 72 hours before arrival or comply with being tested at the airport. Also, they will have their temperatures taken twice per day. Travelers to Bermuda are also subject to health screening upon arrival.
Costa Rica
Status
Costa Rica plans to open its borders for international visitors from low-risk countries on August 1st, 2020.
Conditions
Although the country has not officially declared the entry requirements, they mentioned that a health declaration may be needed to enter the country.
Cuba
Status
Cuba reopened for international travelers on July 1st, 2020. Travelers can only enter specific areas of Cuba, such as Cayo Largo Del Sur, Cayo Coco, Cayo Guillermo, Cayo Santa María and Cayo Cruz. The country is planning to open all areas in late August.
Conditions
Visitors are subject tot testing upon arrival. However, the test is free of charge.
Dominican Republic
Status
The second-largest country in the Caribbean plans to open to tourism on July 1st, 2020.

Grenada
Status
Currently, Grenada is open only to Caribbean nationals. However, the island-country plans to reopen to visitors from Canada, Schengen Area, and the United States on August 1st, 2020.
Conditions
Passengers must present a Health declaration form and download and register on the country's tracking app. Visitors from the Caribbean will take a rapid test, and if it comes out positive, they are subject to take a PCR test. All other passengers must present a negative PCR test result taken 7 days prior to arrival at most. In addition, they are subject to a rapid and/or PCR test upon entry.
Haiti
Status
Haiti officially opened for international travel on July 1st, 2020.
Conditions
Incoming passengers are subject to a 14-day quarantine.
Jamaica
Status
The country is now open to travelers since June 15th, 2020.
Conditions
All tourists must obtain travel authorization before departure.
Puerto Rico
Status
The US state is now open for tourism.

Conditions
All incoming travelers must fill in a declaration and therefore are subject to a 14-day quarantine.
Turks and Caicos
Status
The islands reopened for visitors on July 22nd, 2020.

St. Barth
Status
The island opened for visitors on June 22nd, 2020.
Conditions
Tourists must present a negative PCR test result upon arrival.
St. Marteen
Status
The country is opened for international passengers on July 1st, 2020.
Conditions
Passengers may be subject to a 14-day quarantine.
St. Vincent and the Grenadines
Status
The islands are now open travelers.
Conditions
Passengers arriving from China, EEA, the United Kingdom, and the United States are subject to COVID-19 testing. Moreover, after August 1st, only visitors from high-risk countries will subject to testing.
St. Lucia
Status
The island-country is now open to travelers.
Conditions
All tourists must present a negative COVID-19 test result taken 48 hours upon arrival. In addition, they are also subject to health examination and a 14-day quarantine.
The Bahamas
Status
The islands opened for international tourists on July 1st, 2020, except for US travelers.
Conditions
All passengers must fill in a travel health form prior to arrival. Moreover, a negative PCR test result that has been taken in the past 10 days must be presented upon arrival. Similarly, any travelers that present symptoms will be subject to a medical check.

U.S. Virgin Islands
Status
The islands are now open for travelers.
Conditions
All travelers are screened for health conditions. In addition, they are subject to quarantine.
South American countries that are open for tourism
Ecuador
Status
The country is now open for tourism.
Conditions
Tourists must fill in a form that includes their accommodation, routes, and local contact details. Additionally, a negative COVID-19 test taken in the past 7 days must also be presented upon arrival or to agree to be tested at the airport.
For this reason, all tourists are subject to a 14-day self-quarantine.

Countries that are not yet open for travelers
These countries did not announce anything about opening up anytime soon. Therefore, they remain closed until further notice.
